Anorexia Treatment for six year old boy is the youngest

A study released today has revealed that a six year old boy from the UK is the youngest person to ever be treated for anorexia.

The study showed that in 2003 hospitals in the UK had 93 admissions of boys under the age of ten years old with eating disorders compared to that of only 21 girls.   Even though many of the girls that were treated had similar symptoms to those of their older counterparts, the younger boys were much more likely to be suffering from selective eating, which si when they will only eat a very small variety of food.

A doctor from the hospital did  state that “There is a whole range of eating disorders that young childdren suffer from, including compulsive overeating, food phobias of fear of swallowing, and refusing to eat”.
