Irinel Chiriac, MDPsychiatrist
Dr. Chiriac is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology practicing medicine and psychiatry for more than 20 years. In addition to Ph.D. studies in social psychology, she has been affiliated with multiple hospitals and medical facilities since completing her residency in Psychiatry at the University of Chicago. She received her medical degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania where she practiced obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Chiriac has been the Medical Director of several hospitals in the San Diego region including Palomar Medical Center’s Inpatient Behavioral Health Program and Aurora Behavioral Healthcare Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Clinics. At Palomar, she took an active leadership role in the new inpatient PTSD treatment program for the active duty military population., while at Aurora she provided needed services to acutely ill patients who suffer from severe mental health disorders, addiction, eating disorders and PTSD.
Dr. Chiriac has been published in numerous professional journal and has been an educator for the local community. She has been recognized by several awards including The Patients’ Choice Award and the Compassionate Doctor Recognition from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; The Doctor Of the Year 2010 for Palomar Pomerado Health – Inpatient Psychiatric Services; and The Doctor of the Year 2011- The Psychiatric Centers of San Diego just to name a few.
