Admission To Casa Palmera In San Diego

Casa Palmera has a staff that truly cares and works hard to help their patients, M.M.

Deciding To Seek Treatment

Making the decision to seek help is never an easy one, whether you are seeking services for yourself, a loved one, or a friend. There is no one-size-fits-all. For that reason, our patients’ treatment experience is specifically tailored for that individual. After a thorough rehab admissions assessment, psychiatric evaluation, psychosocial assessment as well as a host of objective tests and input from the treatment team, we will determine the most appropriate plan for you and your recovery.

The Right Treatment Facility

What makes Casa Palmera unique among treatment facilities is our all-inclusive approach to healing the body, mind and spirit. We treat the whole person, not just the disease. Whether a person is suffering from drug and alcohol abuse, depression or some other mood disorder, each of these can be emotionally and physically devastating and, over time, simply exhausting and too much to bear.

Our holistic treatment approach, coupled with an outstanding clinical program, allows us to work together with our patient and meet them ‘where they are’ to determine their physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual and lifestyle values upon admission. We offer a wide variety of different therapeutic treatment approaches and educational lectures to meet our patient’s needs and to help make their recovery meaningful and successful.

Co-Occurring Conditions

Co-occurring disorders are complex and need to be addressed comprehensively. Most often, other treatment facilities treat one disorder at a time. They may, in fact, even refer the patient to another location because they do not have the resources to treat both diagnoses. At Casa Palmera we treat all diagnosed disorders simultaneously under one roof. The result is an intensive treatment approach that addresses complex diagnoses at one facility, demonstrating how vital it is to use an individualized treatment program for each patient.

Residential Treatment Setting

If you are seeking a private, residential treatment facility in a serene, and secluded location, Casa Palmera could be the right fit for you. We are frequently told that the physical environment alone sets the stage for peace, tranquility, and self-reflection, and that it provides a safe environment where healing can begin and balance can be found. This kind of positive environment is essential for a healthy recovery. If you are suffering from addiction or a mood disorder, our quiet and beautiful setting will help set you on your path to recovery.

Casa Palmera Food Philosophy

Our intention is to prepare high quality, creatively prepared and delicious food to nourish, replenish deficient nutrients, restore health, help you to feel better and inspire you to prepare better quality food at home as you take better care of yourself.

Each meal and snack is specifically designed with these intentions.

Meal & snack timing (eating rhythm) is designed to increase metabolism, stabilize blood sugar, balance mood, maintain energy and prevent overeating.

Caffeine is avoided because research shows that caffeine can trigger anxiety in some people and since most patients have sleep difficulties, as a stimulant caffeine can impair healthy sleep function. Finally, some people experience depression several hours after caffeine consumption. Our psychiatrists prefer to have a neutral baseline in prescribing medications to improve sleep, depression, and anxiety. Once these are addressed and hopefully improved, we acknowledge that caffeine consumption in moderation such as the equivalent of 1-2 cups of caffeine daily can be part of a healthy balanced lifestyle after your discharge.

Sugar is provided in moderation: 2 packets with tea or coffee at snacks. Dessert is served at afternoon snack Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Many dishes are made from scratch including salad dressings, sauces, peanut butter, granola, yogurt and most desserts (excluding ice cream, chocolate, bread, bagels and a few others).

Our culinary staff genuinely tries to provide nutritious tasty cuisine to help restore your health and enliven your appetite. We hope you appreciate and enjoy it as well as allow it to inspire you to make better food choices after you leave us.

12-STEP PROGRAMS

Research and experience show that the 12-Step model is perhaps the most successful treatment model for those suffering from addiction.

First Three Steps of the Original Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step Program

1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol-that our lives had become unmanageable

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God, as we understood Him
